New Income for St. Joseph County

From 1997 through 2002, the University spent an average of $52.1 million annually in new building costs, with $45.4 million related directly to new construction. However, construction during fiscal year 2002 was limited in comparison to previous years because of changing economic conditions. The University spent $12.5 million in construction work, including $10.4 million in "bricks and mortar" costs. The University created 60 construction industry jobs and 70 spin-off jobs elsewhere in the Michiana economy.
